Wallbanger (Cocktail #1)
Alice Clayton
February 14, 2013
The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she’s gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor’s nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly…
In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight…
Caroline wakes up in the middle of the night to strange noises coming from her new neighbors apartment. Of course, it wasn’t just the one night, and that wasn’t the worst thing to happen. A newly hung picture falls off the wall, smacking her on the head, scaring her cat Clive and she finally gets fed up with the noises and storms over there.
Simon, oh Simon. I love him, he can cook and clean, he loves him some orange cranberry bread and apparently he can make girls “Meow” which is saying a lot. Simon and Caroline become friends, he rescues her from a flooding and she bakes him bread. A win-win if you ask me, I mean, have you ever had fresh bread?
Caroline, Mimi and Sophia have a friendship some would envy, I definitely laughed right along with them, sometimes with tears running down my face. When Clive chases “Purina” down the stairs, I couldn’t control the laughter. Trust me when I say this was a very entertaining read, steamy at some points but mostly I laughed to the point I could barely breathe.
Wallbanger can be read as a standalone novel! There is a continuation to Simon and Caroline’s story in Rusty Nailed and Last Call, so check those out. Other books of the series are for side characters.

Alice Clayton worked in the cosmetics industry for over a decade before picking up a pen.
She enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up, and finally convinced her long-time boyfriend to marry her.
Now, about that Bernese Mountain dog.
