Almost Eighteen (Wilson Mooney #1)

Abandoned by her mother at the vulnerable age of eight; only to be shipped off to a boarding school in Northern California by her grandparents, Wilson Mooney, is one girl who knows what it’s like to have to grow up way too fast. Now, a month away from turning eighteen and orphaned by the death of her grandparents; she knows exactly what she wants. All it takes is a spontaneous ski trip with her narcissistic roommate to Colorado to make it a reality. When “he” happens to show up at a party in Aspen, Wilson becomes tangled in the powerful emotions of first love, sexual inexperience, and society’s principles. She lives a whirlwind weekend filled with newly discovered boundaries, calloused aches for a family she never had, and all the pressures of keeping their weekend together a secret.
Wilson Mooney has a crush, that’s normal for any 17 year old girl, especially if you’re at an all girls boarding school. Wilson’s crush? That would be her government teacher, Max Goldstein.
Her best friend Joanie is pretty much all she’s got, not family by blood but still family. Her roommate Cindy is a brat, living off of daddies money and thinking she’s hot shit. So when she all but traps Wilson into going with her to aspen for a weekend of skiing, she can’t really say no. Except she doesn’t know how to ski. When they get there, she learns about “seasonal friends” and how Cindy lives in Aspen, quite nice from the sounds of it. When she throws a house party the first night they’re there and Cindy’s half brother invites his friend you wouldn’t think anything wrong, right? True that nothing could be wrong with that, only one friend, no big deal, except that friend also brings his older brother Max along. Yep, Max Goldstein.
Do you see the problem yet? Let me break it down, first there’s the fact that he’s a teacher. Second, there are underage girls there, drinking. Third, he’s a teacher who could have supplied the alcohol or that he also has a crush but can’t do anything about it…
Most of that happens within the first 25% of the book, so you can imagine what could possibly happen with the other 75% of the book.
I really liked everything about this book, but not it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Wilson and Max, they definitely have an interesting story line.
*I highly recommend that you purchase the boxed set as there is a Prequel to Max in it, only available in the boxed set.
