Pepped Up & Ready (Pepper Jones #3)

Senior year is finally here, and with it comes a surge in my competitive spirit. I’m determined to defend my national cross-country title. Although Jace is busy with the demands of college football, he’s still cheering me on and supporting my goals. With him by my side and my drive focused like never before, I’m ready to take on the world. But am I taking my renewed enthusiasm for training too far?
As Jace and I focus on our athletic ambitions, we discover that his social status has followed him to college, despite attempts to keep a low profile. With my boyfriend as the campus idol, I fear that I might just be a target to those who find Jace threatening.
Tests and trials lay before us, not just on the trails and field. Are we strong enough to withstand the pressures of everyone wanting something from us? It won’t be easy fighting for my title and my boyfriend, at the same time, but nothing easy is worth winning… or keeping.
As Jace and Pepper focus on their athletic ambitions, they discover that Jace’s social status has followed him to college, despite his attempt to keep a low profile. With her boyfriend as an idol on campus, Pepper discovers that she might just be a target to those who find Jace threatening.
Although Pepper and Jace are just the road from each other, they can’t just walk across the road to the others house and hang out when ever they want. Senior year in high school for Pepper means busting her butt in cross country. Freshman year in college for Jace means proving he isn’t just some high school football player, but that he can actually help the team win more. But what about the people who are out to get Jace and Pepper?
I loved getting to see more of Wes and Pepper together, although I do love when Jace is with them as well, seeing those two reconnect is so nice, especially since we know how things ended for them.
With that said, Ali gave me the spooks a few times in this chapter that is Jace and Pepper. I loved the added suspense to the book, I think that shows that even in the make believe world, things aren’t always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, if you’re too nice to someone, they become obsessed. I also really enjoyed seeing Pepper learn to maneuver her life without being able to run, given that it’s such a big part of her life, struggles happen in books too.
