I live in a world few know exist. I’ve trained for this. I know what to say, what to do, and how to act. I’ve perfected the lethal calm required for this life.
Now it’s time to buy my first girl. But all it takes is one look at the brave girl who starts singing mid-auction for that calm to slip.
Briar Chapman is going to be the death of me, and I don’t care. I’ll take every day with her until that death comes, and I’ll welcome it when it does.

On the outside, Lucas Holt is what nightmares are made of. A man cloaked in darkness, with sin-filled eyes and an enticing grin. A devil so devastatingly beautiful and cruel that his very presence instills fear.
But beneath his terrifying, ever-calm exterior is an affectionate man haunted by a past that refuses to stay buried. And Lucas looks at me as though he’s finally found the only person who can make it all go away.
We’re a battle of the brightest day and the darkest night—and I want to lie in the wake of our war.

I admit, I was skeptical when I started this book. I put it off for about two months, give or take, because I knew it centered around human sex trafficking. I love love love Molly’s books, always have, but this one was an “eh” for me. That is until I started it. From the prologue I was hooked and by the end of chapter one I couldn’t stop. I needed this story, reading for me is my own personal drug.

Briar is just a regular girl, although she grew up with money and continues to live a life with money, her fiancé is well off given that his mother is the Governor. She learned that her parents money was disgusting, which is why she works. It wasn’t until she realized why they suddenly paid so much attention to her that she loathed everything to do with them and their money. You see, she sings when she’s scared and she has a beautiful voice, so why not exploit it? Except her voice is hers and she wants to keep it that way. No one understands, not even Kyle and that makes me sad.

By the end of chapter four I was in love with Lucas, I know I know. He’s the enemy, Meagan, how can you love him? Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t like that he bought women or that he associated himself with other people that bought, used and manipulated women like it was okay. It’s not, but there’s something about Lucas that makes you love him.

You’ll see.

I was 100% with out a doubt hooked after the first sentence in the prologue and it only got worse as I read farther into the world Molly wrote about. I know I said I was skeptical and I was, that will never change but as Molly said to me, she’s never steered us wrong and she never will. This book gave me all the feels, at one point I ran around my (thankfully empty) house screaming, as well as rocking back and forth whispering to myself “I can’t go on” my mom thought I was broken, and I was. But Molly fixed it all by the last sentence and I was okay with it. You will be too.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm … or under one in a bathtub if there are tornado’s. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.

Hey all, welcome to my blog! I'm Meagan and I live in Central NY, I've been reading since I was 14 years old and it all started with James Patterson's 'Sam's Letters to Jennifer'. I took the book with me every where I thought I might have a second to read. It's been my go to book as well and I can't imagine what I would do if I never read that. When I'm not reading, which is almost never, you can find me watching my favorite shows which include Bones, Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, Castle, The Originals, Once Upon A Time, NCIS, The O.C. and Hawaii Five-O! When ever I start a book, I'm almost always instantly hooked, I will stay up all night reading if I can't put it down just so I know the happy ending. My favorite authors include Julie Prestsater, R.S. Grey, Leigh Talbert Moore, Jenn Sterling, P.C. and Kristen Cast, Richelle Mead, Lauren Kate, Gillian Flynn, Kandi Steiner, Brittainy C. Cherry, Staci Hart, Molly McAdams and James Patterson. I always love learning about new authors and talking books, if you'd like to get in touch, feel free to send me a DM on either instagram or facebook.
