Hazed (Palm South University #6) by Kandi Steiner

Hazed (Palm South University #6)
Kandi Steiner
March 25, 2021

Half the crew is back at Palm South.
The other half has graduated.

Jess, Ashlei, and Erin move downtown together after graduation. While Ashlei recovers from heartbreak and makes a new plan of attack, Erin is trying to survive law school — and her new relationship. And after the explosive season finale of Ritual, Jess has found herself in quite the pickle.

Meanwhile at PSU, Bear and Adam are in their final semesters, which means one last Spring Break to rule them all. That’s not the only thing on Bear’s mind, though — not after he has a realization that changes everything. And while Adam and Cassie are finally back on track, their next chapter may not be as easy.

Skyler and Kip are back together after a semester apart, but while they expected a fairy tale ending, a newcomer might throw a wrench in their plans.

Add to Goodreads

Kandi Steiner never disappoints, especially when it comes to the PSU gang. She actually never disappoints regardless but the one thing we can count on is the twists and turns she adds into the PSU books. The gang is back again and the only difference is that Erin, Jess and Lei have graduated and moved down town. Rest assured we still see them just as much as we have when they were at PSU.

There really isn’t too much I can say about Hazed, due to the nature of the books and how much happens earlier on that we’re still dealing with this season, but I’ll do my best.

Erin has a lot of growth this season, though she still frustrates the hell out of me up until the very end of Hazed and if you’ve read BN4, you would know why. The explosion that happens at the end of Ritual for Jess is still an issue this season, and I think it only gets worse but I’m honestly living for the drama. Lei, the blow up that happened for her with Brandon in Ritual is still affecting her in Hazed, but just like Erin, we see her growth and moving on..or do we? Cassie and Adam face their own struggles, with Adam graduating and deciding which direction to take his life next and Cassie still having a semester left, but they’re stronger now and I forever ship them. Bear, my heart aches for him so much, between this being his last semester and realizing everything he’s doing for the last time, deciding between staying in Palm South or moving back to Pittsburgh. Skyler seems to hit a rough patch this season and while I love her endlessly, as she was one of my favorites from the very beginning, I wish she would have spoken to Kip about things before letting it get to where it does.

I can not believe that Greek is coming so soon, we’re going to be at the series finale before we know it, the last 7 years have been dedicated to these characters and watching their mistakes and so much of their growth, I both can not wait to see how Kandi ties everything up but at the same time, just like my favorite tv show.

Dirty Curve by Meagan Brandy

Dirty Curve

August 27, 2021

You know how in college there’s that one guy everyone wants to be?

That’s me.

I’m the top dog.

The number one.

The big man on campus.

Some say those things are solid wins.

My new tutor would disagree.

My title means nothing to her.

My status lost on her.

And now my mind? That sucker is stuck on her.

She was told to make our sessions priority over all, to drop everything when I need her, and come to me. She does.

But I don’t want to steal her time anymore.

I want to earn it.

If anyone can do that, it’s me.

I’m Tobias Cruz, the king of the curveball. I don’t lose.

Not the game, and surely not the girl.

Little did I know, this girl has herself a secret…and it’s the dirtiest curve yet.

Add to Goodreads

What do I even say about this man? He’s literal perfection and I’d really like Meagan to stop writing such perfect men. Meyer is her own self, full of badassery (is that a word?), strength and passion. I love the two of them together so much, the way they grew to love the other, how they care and fight for what they want.

But as usual, secrets are..secrets for a reason. This…curve ball Meagan threw us this time was kind of perfect. I kind of figured it out earlier rather than when it was officially revealed, but I was also bouncing back and forth from when Tobias thought too.

What a sleazeball that other person is. I won’t name him for fear of spoiling Dirty Curve for other people, all about non spoiler reviews. I hated them, with a burning passion and it just got worse the farther into the book I got.

Meagan, as always, is amazing with the worlds she creates and I can’t wait to read what she has planned for us later.

Cover Design by Cover Me Darling

Once upon a time…

A boy is sired with poison in his veins. He cannot outrun the venom in his blood, so he escapes from those who put it there. Secreting away his darkest tendencies, he grows to become a friend, brother, bartender…

Huntsman.

A man who becomes exactly what he ran from, a villain of his own making.
A villain who falls in love with the one woman he is told to steer clear of.
Enchanted by a girl with hair as brilliant as the sun and innocence as potent as his corruption.

A girl locked away in a tower and told she will never walk again.
This boy doesn’t want to be the villain in her story. For once, he desires to be a hero.
Regrettably, his past creeps in like thick, winding fog, reaching wickedly for the one he
loves the most. A hero is no match for the rotten tree from which he fell.

Once a huntsman, always a huntsman.
Poisoning guaranteed.

Pas de Deux by Jordan Bates [Review]

“Adventures are what we were made for”

Pas de Deux
Jordan Bates
July 29, 2018

My life consisted of sweet tea, ballet, and not much else. That was, until the day that race car driver Lawson Kane came crashing into my life, literally.

He was a force to be reckoned with and I found myself being pulled by that force each time I saw him.

But what am I to do when all I’ve ever known is a city life that my parents created so seamlessly for me. A life where there was no adventures or following your own heart.

A life that changed the moment I got on the plane to Alabama.

Our story may have started with a slow dance in a planetarium but it ended with our pas de deux.

Weeks.

It took me weeks to come up with a review to this book when it first released, but with the cover re-reveal, that gives me all the feels all over again, I decided to re-vamp my review. I’ve was at such a loss for words, Anya and Lawson’s story was soul crushingly beautiful and even though it’s been three years since I’ve read it I still feel all of the same feelings and more so now, than I did when Jordan first released Pas de Deux.

I think we can all agree that life happens, not always how we plan, but most times we’re able to control what does happen and if we aren’t in a position to control life, we can grow from our mistakes. That’s what Lawson and Anya show us, that life throws us unexpected curves. Sometimes we meet people and have such a strong connection to them that we will do anything for them, to see them smile and to see them happy. I can say, with 100% certainty that this book makes me happy. It shows me how life really can be, but that no matter what is thrown at me, I can always overcome it.

Jordan, ugh, she did a phenomenal job with the story of Anya and Lawson. I want someone to call me a cute nickname and to love me the way Lawson loves Anya. I want it all, even the heartache that can come from giving someone everything. And Jordan gives me hope. Now, please put your heart in Jordan’s hands and read this book. You won’t be sorry.

“I always have you with me, sugar.” Law pulled out a photo from the inside of his jumper. It was a photo of me from our first date. I was staring up at the stars in the planetarium. I looked so in the moment, it was probably why I didn’t notice Law taking the photo.

I let a tear fall as I gave him one more kiss and backed away from the car. I glanced at where Chloe was standing with a few of the other women, but I didn’t want to join them. There was something about today that I wanted to be about me and Law. This was the next stepping stone, I realized. Moving in wasn’t the big deal, this was. If I could handle being here at this track with the nagging anxiety that something, anything, could happen to Law, then I knew what would come next.

I waited for Tony to step away and then we both made our way over to Law’s pit. I watched as some of the women left entirely, heading to the infield. I was glad Law had staked his claim of having me in the pit. I couldn’t stand being so far away from him. At least this way I had a better view of what was going on.

“We got you a few things.” Tony handed me a bag and I started to dig through.

I had taken my seat next to him on the stand in the pit where I could see the whole track from here. I pulled out a headset and a shirt from the bag. I turned the shirt over to see Sugar written on the back and on the front in small letters it said Kane Racing.

“Welcome to the team.” Tony put on his headset and then pointed to mine. I quickly tossed the shirt over the tank I had on and then put on the headset where instantly I could hear voices coming through. One was Law’s and the other Tony’s.

“Your girl’s on now,” Tony said beside me, but I heard it only through the headphones.

“I love you, Anya.” Law’s voice came through loud and clear, and I heard over the cheering of the crowd words I had only ever heard on television.

“Gentlemen, start your engines.”

For Love or Honey by Staci Hart [Cover Reveal]

For Love or Honey
Staci Hart
September 21, 2021

When the devil comes to town, you have to meet him head-on.

Which is exactly what I did when Grant Stone rolled into our small Texas town, driving a sports car I could fit in the bed of my truck, wearing a suit as black as his soul. He’s here to acquire mineral rights to half a dozen farms in town.

And there’s no way he’s getting mine.

I don’t make deals with the devil.

So when he challenges me to show him the small town ropes, my motivation is the prospect of seeing him make a fool of himself. He might have an angle, but if he thinks he can finagle me into endangering my bee farm, he’s got another thing coming.

Until the line in the sand is washed away.

My farm in danger. A town in upheaval. A man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

And me in the middle.

When the devil comes to town, you have to meet him head-on.

And when he sneaks into your heart, he’ll only break it.

There are moments in our lives that can change the course we’re on.
I believe when faced with those moments, we should take the unknown path. The risk. The excitement, the opportunity, the love . . .

The night I stumbled into a burlesque club in downtown Los Angeles, I took one of those paths and changed my life.
I found a home I’d never had with my own parents.
I found a confidence I’d never known as a prima ballerina.
I found my passion.

And it inadvertently led me back to the one moment I’d let slip away—to him.
To a love so pure and whole and carnal, I thought it could withstand anything.

But I’m not the only one with secrets.
And now, all those chosen paths are crumbling around me.

Waste My Time (North Haven University #4)
Kelsey Clayton
July 8, 2021

My name is Easton Donovan,
and I massively screwed up.

I should’ve given her the world.
Should’ve been everything she deserves.
Instead, I broke her like every promise I’ve ever made.

The darkness tells me to let her go.
Memories of my past keep me from letting her in.
Someone should tell her that loving me is a losing game.
Just being around her is a high I’ve never known.
If she knows what’s good for her, she’ll cut me off.
Given the chance, I’ll ruin her the way I’ve done to others.
But with the bomb she just dropped, she’s here to stay.

She’s flawless innocence.
I’m toxic destruction.
And the selfish part is, I need her.

Truth be told, Kennedy Lehigh could be the one to save me from myself.

Say Yes by Kandi Steiner [Review]

Say Yes
Kandi Steiner
June 24, 2021

Two strangers.
Two words.
One unforgettable summer…

When you’re an artist, everything has to be perfect.

Or so I thought, until my professor told me my perfection was boring and unoriginal. Studying abroad in Florence has taught me one thing: I know nothing when it comes to what makes art truly beautiful.

So, with my professor’s words in my ear, I step outside one evening and decide to say yes to any and everything I’m faced with until the sun rises.

Of course, I didn’t expect him to show up.

Liam Benson, the broody, sexy, tortured artist from my class who I can’t stand. He’s got a sour outlook on the world and an ego so big no one could properly stroke it to his satisfaction.

When he finds out what I’m doing, he hijacks my “yes” night.
And after just twelve hours with him, I’m desperate for more.

But Liam is running from more than I could ever understand, and with his heart guarded and mind made up about life, I don’t stand a chance.

I convince myself that we can keep it casual.
But walking away from him at the end of the summer is as impossible as painting outside the lines.

I used to think when you’re an artist, everything has to be perfect.

Turns out everything has to be painful, and messy, and fleeting.

If only I’d known that before I fell under Liam Benson’s spell.

Add to Goodreads

Kandi Steiner has published yet another beautifully soul crushing book. Each time I start another one of her books, entering this new world she’s created for us, I think that it can’t be better than the last one and each time she amazes me with how much more I fall in love with her characters, her world and her writing.

Say Yes is a book set in the mid 90’s, in Italy no less. Y’all know Kandi loves to write traveling books, and that’s definitely a reason I want to travel so bad. Say Yes wasn’t any more helpful with it being set in the place of my dream vacation. To hear about Florence, Italy the way Kandi saw it a few years back has made my desire to see Italy as a whole that much more.

Harley and Liam’s love story is truly one of a kind, not because it’s set in the 90’s, but because of the trials and tribulations that they go through, both together and separately. Though this is all told in Harley’s POV, we still see Liam’s growth and how far he came from the boy he was in the beginning to the man he is in the end. His growth is spectacular. It’s very obvious from the start that he suffered from depression, PTSD and probably anxiety as well, all due to a tragic event that occurred in his past, but in the end? He’s still the boy we met, but so much better. Harley, she has her own hurdles to jump over, starting with her hand and always looking at it as a deformity over just helping make her who she is. Or maybe that’s why she views it as a deformity? It’s hard to tell, but I am very happy with the way she grew from start to finish.

Given that this book is based over the course of a summer art class, I would be lying if I didn’t say how much I wish I could see the pieces that Harley and Liam created, but I’ll let my imagination help with that one.

I truly hope y’all pick up this book, its a bit eye opening and as previously mentioned, a soul crushing story, but I honestly would not ask or expect anything else from Kandi Steiner, queen of angst.

Y’all. I don’t know why I even pretend to be shocked with every new Molly book, but this one got me too, like they all do. I’m not as broken as I was when I finished Nightshade or Fire, but still broken to an extent.

I’m 100% sure that if Kieran and Beau had a secret love child, it would be Adam. He’s broody and silent, terrifying and protective as ever. Where does that leave Hollis? I’d say she’s an entirely different soul than Molly’s other heroines, but at the same time she’s so similar. It’s definitely hard to describe how I feel about Hollis, when I can so easily explain Adam and I think that’s possibly because I made the connection to Kieran, Beau and Adam so quickly.

Hollis and Adam, the love they have for one another? It’s definitely a one of a kind, instant love and I love them together. This whole book had me swooning, followed by laughing, followed by anger and back to swooning. I was so consumed by the first page that I knew I would be in trouble the more I got sucked into it and I was.. I started Passion around midnight on September 1st and finished around 3am on the 5th, if I weren’t working two jobs I likely would have finished on the 3rd and that’s stretching it.

Though I loved reading everything to do with Adam and Hollis, it was Stevie, Mia and Ariana that truly made the story one to be sucked into. Stevie especially, she’s so funny that I couldn’t help but bust out laughing every time she said something about protecting her friends, due to the way she would aggressively fight for them, it makes me sad that Stevie wont have her own book, but at least we’ll see her in Love and Fame.

If y’all haven’t purchased Passion yet, grab your copy today, then tell me what your favorite part was!
