In Paris, he was abandoned as she created a masterpiece.
In New Mexico, she found inspiration all while he couldn’t write a single lyric.
In New York, he was given an ultimatum just as she ignored her agent’s emails.
In Colorado, everything changed.

Zona Carver finds inspiration for her novels in unlikely places, but when she decides to go see Sebastian March in concert, she doesn’t expect to inspire him. On a whim, he asks her to go on tour, but Zona has a complicated past with the music business and returning to her old life leaves her feeling uncertain.

Before she can worry about the consequences of her actions, she’s packing up her entire life and hopping on a bus with Sebastian.

City by city, words are written, and memories are made, but the past has a pesky way of catching up to you.

What happens on the road, doesn’t always stay there, and hopefully they can survive the wild ride.

This was part of a conversation I had with Cassie while Beta reading.

Y’all this may be the cutest story I’ve ever read, and I don’t just say that because I love Cassie. (But I do!)

Sebastian and Zona have such an incredible and interesting bonding experience at the beginning of the book, and I love that things don’t move super fast. This is a slow burn “I know you both have feelings” type of book. But, when they do get together, it’s even better, so pure and different from most books I’ve read.

I couldn’t be happier with that way Cassie wrote and left this book, big kudos to her and I can’t wait to see what happens with Holden.

Excerpt

“You have no idea the impact you have.” He stared intently at my neck, his eyes opening wide as I swallowed. His teeth bit at the inside of his cheek just as his grip landed on my shoulder – kneading his fingers into my goose bumped skin. “Please don’t question your bravery.”

I sucked in a breath, the release shaky. His face inched closer to me, his minty exhale cascading over my face. Suddenly, I was grossly aware of our closeness and the fact that I didn’t want to push him away. I wanted him closer. Needed him to touch me.

The hand on my shoulder moved to the side of my neck, his strong, calloused fingers tangling in my curly hair. Air entered my lungs in short bursts, and I hoped he didn’t notice.

Trailing my open hand up his arm, the veins and muscles contracted under my touch.

“Stop me, Zona,” he breathed, his lips ghosting the skin near my earlobe.

Letting Go (Keaton #1.5) by B. A. Wolfe [Review]

Letting Go (Keaton #1.5)
B.A. Wolfe
September 28, 2015

Jason Bradley is a simple, country guy thrust into a life most wouldn’t consider normal. He’s dealt with his share of heartbreak and pain, and now he keeps his secrets close to his heart to avoid getting hurt again. Living the only way he knows how.

Until Cassandra Pierce crashes into his world. After a life-changing moment he never anticipated, he realizes that loving her is only the beginning.

A whirlwind of days…

Beautiful moments…

Then it all comes tumbling down, and Jason learns that the hardest part of living…of loving…is letting go.

This is Jason’s story.

*If you haven’t read  Away, I would not go any further.  Letting Go  is NOT meant to be read as a stand alone, and personally, I suggest reading this AFTER book 2*

Add to Goodreads

Okay so I’ll say this again, if you have not read Away, do not read this review! But I also suggest reading Stay first too.

With that being said, I fell in love with Jase Bradley all over again, which means my heart was broken again too. I really, really loved seeing everything from his point of view, in Letting Go we meet Jase when he’s younger, we’re able to experience everything he went through when he was first diagnosed and all of the struggles leading up to before he met Cassie.

I think the saddest moment for me, aside from the ending, was Dan and Jase’s relationship, the “Batman and Robin” bond they had growing up, because as we all know, Robin doesn’t exist with out Batman.

Oh Dan, how does one even describe him? Yes this is entirely Jase’s story, but Dan, he put his entire life on hold for Jase. He was the Batman to Jase’s Robin. He tried so, so hard to save him, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. But it gave him more time.

Reading Cassie and Jase’s story all over again, literally crushed me, because there wasn’t a way to have a happy ending for Jase and Cassie. As much as we all wished, I’m extremely happy that wasn’t the case.

Jase’s story was very well written, and if not for the heartache at the end, I would probably devour this book over and over again.

Her list of favorites would be long enough to fill a book, but most would likely fall under the romance category. A Little Beyond Time (A Little Beyond #2) by Tracie Puckett [Review]

A Little Beyond Time (A Little Beyond #2)
Tracie Puckett
October 22, 2019

After a tornado rips through Oakland, Julie is left to pick up the pieces of a life in shambles. As she forges ahead, the rebuild of Lonnie’s flower shop sparks a family feud and a significant business proposition. Struggling to strike a balance between school, work, and her personal life, Julie begins to wonder if there’s ever enough time to have it all; but with Luke by her side, she’s quickly realizing that she already has everything she’ll ever need.

Add to Goodreads

Oh my gosh, y’all, this book…I thought this would be harder, given that Lonnie passed away after the tornado in the last book, and it wasn’t easy to read it, not everything is back to perfect in the small town of Oakland, but they’re trying and that’s all that counts, right?

Things are different in this book, not just because of Lonnie being gone, there are other characters missing, but I won’t name who, it’s just hard to read that they aren’t around anymore. And for such selfish reasons, it makes me mad because their reasons are things that actually happen.

But Luke and Julie? Ughhh I love them even more in this book than I did in the last or even the beginning. They were a little hard to deal with at the beginning, but if this were to be the end of their story, I’d be okay with it because it’s so perfect. But, there is a hint at another one on Tracie’s website, so, fingers crossed.

A Little Beyond Hope (A Little Beyond #1) by Tracie Puckett [Review]

A Little Beyond Hope (A Little Beyond #1)
Tracie Puckett
March 29, 2015

A tornado threatens destruction in Oakland, and Julie is forced to take shelter. Riding out the storm with Luke, Matt, and Kara, she quickly finds herself thrown into the past, forced to confront painful truths of then and now.

The storm hits, but not without devastating loss. Someone she loves is missing, another has run away. One has been critically injured, and the town she loves has suffered great devastation. With little left moving forward, everyone is struggling to get by. Hope comes in waves, few and far between, and Julie is left to wonder if there’s anything left to hold on to.

Add to Goodreads

This book, you definitely need to have read the other books in the little series before reading this one as it’s a continuation.

My heart aches so much at everything that happens in A Little Beyond Hope, there are quite a few life lessons that anyone, at any age, could take to the heart and learn from, grow from the words that we read.

A terrible storm rips through Oakland, I can’t go into details as it’s a major spoiler, so this review will be short. Life is a gift, everyone always thinks they have it bad but I guarantee you that someone has it worse, that’s not to discredit the troubles one is going through, just to bring light that others are in bad shape too. Keep your head up and look for the light, there’s always a brighter side to everything.

“We lie. We overreact and over-analyze every little thing. And no matter how bad we think we have it, there’s always someone else who had it worse. And then here we sit—praying for some kind of miracle…for something more…for some kind of magical fix. But there is no magical fix. Not this time. There’s nothing anyone can do. Life and death…they’re part of this world we live in. All we can do is accept it.”

Just A Little Sequel (Just A Little #9) by Tracie Puckett [Review]

Just a Little Sequel (Just A Little #9)
Tracie Puckett
September 28, 2013

It’s one year, two months, and five days later, and Julie is still dealing with a lot of doubt. Finally having her Uncle Charlie’s blessing, she’s eager to move forward in her relationship with Luke. But something’s up with her adoring boyfriend, and she can’t quite decipher his odd behavior. And Luke’s only the beginning of her problems: Matt’s moved home from college with a big secret, her best friend is growing up too fast for her liking, and Charlie is refusing to loosen his grip. With the sudden and strange tension growing between Charlie and Luke, Julie begins to question a lot, and her doubt only grows deeper. She’s been praying for her happily ever after from the beginning, but she soon learns that getting that happy ending isn’t as easy as it seems.

Add to Goodreads

Julie and Luke are back again, this time the whole gang doesn’t join in, given that Kara removed her self in such a harsh way, boy did I want to reach in that book and shake some sense into her and even though Derek was gone for the entirety of the 8th book, he’s back, we just don’t see a whole bunch of him.

Charlie is just as stubborn in this little sequel as he was the day that Luke told Charlie of his feelings for Julie, maybe even more stubborn, if that’s possible. However, Julie has basically had enough of his stubbornness and had to figured out why he’s really been acting the way he has, I’m sure you can guess. Mean things are said all around, not just between Charlie and Julie or Luke.

As always, I loved this book just as much as the last ones and I hope y’all do too.

Just A Little (Just A Little #5-8) by Tracie Puckett [Review]

Just A Little (Just A Little #5-8)
Tracie Puckett
October 13, 2013

Everything is not what it seems, and seventeen-year-old Julie is learning that lesson the hard way. Matt is lying through his teeth at every given opportunity, and Julie believes there’s more to his secrecy than meets the eye; she’s convinced her cousin is cheating on Kara. And Matt is the least of her worries.  Luke has been just as dodgy; he comes and goes as he pleases, ignores her calls, and is caught sneaking around with one of Oakland’s newest—and undeniably beautiful—residents.

With no real certainties in her life, Julie enlists the help of a friend to help her expose the truth… no matter what it may cost them in the end.

Add to Goodreads

The whole gang is back with just as much drama, heart ache and suspicions as the last four. Things aren’t always peachy keen, especially for Luke and Julie, but what else would y’all expect? Charlie is just as un-accepting as he was in the first four books and even Matt has a problem, more of his own but it definitely causes some issues for him and Julie.

To me, I think Julie is just as childish in the 5th and 6th book, but she also has reasons for acting the way she does, it doesn’t dismiss her behavior but I can definitely say that I understand and would probably act the same way given the circumstances.

Luke is always frustrating and Charlie gets on my nerves a bit too but always the bright side? Bruno, he may be my favorite side character from the little series.

I hope y’all enjoy these four books as much as I did and do every time I reread them.

Just A Little (Just A Little #1-4) by Tracie Puckett [Review]

Just A Little (Just A Little #1-4)
Tracie Puckett
December 15, 2013

When a class assignment requires seventeen-year-old Julie to shadow someone on the job, she’s overwhelmed by the decisions she’ll have to make. After all, she has no clue what she wants from life post-graduation. So when her Uncle Charlie, Oakland’s Chief of Police, suggests Julie fulfill her twenty hours of required job shadowing at the local police department, she’s thrilled at his solution. Thinking she’ll spend her days filing paperwork behind a desk, she finds herself quickly agreeing to his proposition. But Julie’s expectations are quickly turned upside down when she meets Luke, the young and handsome (albeit somewhat stubborn) officer she’s assigned to shadow on patrol. With every hour she logs with Luke at the wheel, her feelings stir deeper, and Julie can’t help but wonder if what she’s feeling has developed into more than just a little crush.

Add to Goodreads

The first four books in this series throws a lot of drama at us, there’s angst and my heart strings were pulled a little more the further I got. This series has always been one of my favorites and I love going back to read them over and over again. I love the characters, the development of Julie is definitely a plus too. I hope that you take my recommendation and grab at least the first four and read them, hopefully enjoy them as much too.

When we first meet Julie, she’s a bit on the whiny side over some class project that she doesn’t want to do. I can see her point, because who really knows or knew what they were going to do right after high school. Or, if you do know what you want to do, sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Julie Little’s life hasn’t been the easiest, that’s something we can kind of figure out from the beginning. Now add in the fact that she has to do this project, thought by agreeing to her uncle Charlie’s idea, it would be a walk in the cake. Who wouldn’t think something like that? Boy oh boy was she wrong. Then add in the fact that Julie and Luke fight like crazy, but he’s so freaking cute, how can she really stay mad at him?

Aflame (Fall Away #4) by Penelope Douglas [Review]

Aflame (Fall Away #4)
Penelope Douglas
April 5, 2015

Everyone wants to be me.

Maybe it’s the sway of my skirt or the way I flip my hair, but I don’t care. Even though their attention is the last thing I crave, I just can’t stop. I dominate the track, the speed rattles my bones, and the wind and the crowd screams my name.

I’m her. The girl driver. The queen of the race. And I’m surviving—something he thought I’d never do.

They all talk about him. Did you see Jared Trent on T.V? What did you think of his last race, Tate? When is he coming back to town, Tate?

But I refuse to care too much. Because when Jared does come home, I won’t be here.

Tatum Brandt is gone. I’m someone new.

Add to Goodreads

At the end of Falling Away, the third book in Penelope’s Fall Away series, us readers were shocked to find out that Tate and Jared, the couple that started it all were no more. Jared broke things off with Tate to become a better person, but he was coming back, or so he said. Now it’s been two years since that day when Tate told him to get out of her room.

Two years is a long time to be with out the person you’ve loved since you were ten years old. Even after being bullied by Jared in high school for three years Tate always loved him. When she went abroad Junior year, she came back a stronger person, now he comes back to find what?

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from Penelope of  Aflame.  To say I devoured this book would be an understatement. If I could have gotten away with no sleep, food or work I would have. Even from the first sentence I was hooked. I wanted or maybe needed to know what Jared was thinking when he left Tate behind. I needed to know what Tate was feeling in the two years they were apart.

So many questions ran through my head but the one I wanted answered almost more than any of the rest is what’s been going on with Madoc, Jax and Jared since he left? How do you leave the girl you claim to love with all you are and still keep in touch with your brothers? How does that work, given that Tate’s best friends are Fallon and KC, let’s also not forget how close she became with Madoc too.

To say your questions will be answered is definitely true. Maybe not every reader will be impressed with the way Penelope wrapped up this series, but I definitely was. Not everyone is going to be 100% satisfied but I believe the majority will be. Penelope does an amazing job with the ending of all our favorite Fall Away couples.
